North Bay, ON - The Canadore Panthers Women's Volleyball team came away from their GTA road trip with a weekend split, defeating the Centennial Colts 3–1 on Saturday (25–18, 22–25, 25–23, 25–12) before falling in a hard-fought five-set battle to the George Brown Huskies on Sunday (10–25, 25–23, 25–23, 23–25, 14–16).
Saturday, Nov. 8 – Canadore 3, Centennial 1
The Panthers opened the weekend with a confident performance against Centennial, showing poise and balance on both sides of the ball.
Elise Churman led the attack with 14 kills, adding 3 service aces and 4 blocks for a match-high 21 points. Kira Fahrbach added an efficient 8 kills on .353 hitting, while Kate McKenzie contributed 9 points, including 5 aces from the service line.
Setter Reece Sommerfeld ran a smooth offense, dishing out 25 assists and adding a pair of solo blocks. On defense, Peyton Smith and Dyer anchored the backcourt with a combined 13 digs.
Canadore's aggressive serving proved to be a difference-maker, tallying 11 aces as a team, while their blocking presence at the net limited Centennial's rhythm.
Sunday, Nov. 9 – George Brown 3, Canadore 2
The Panthers carried their momentum into a thrilling five-set duel against George Brown but came up just short in a 16–14 final frame.
Despite the loss, Elise Churman once again led the way with 13 kills, 1 ace, and 4 blocks for 18 total points, while Kira Fahrbach recorded 16 kills and 7 digs.
Setter Anikka Butler directed the offense effectively with 26 assists, adding 1 ace and strong defensive play. Kate McKenzie chipped in 6 kills and a service ace, while libero Shianne Shykoluk was rock-solid on defense, racking up a team-high 23 digs.
The match was tightly contested from start to finish, with Canadore showing resilience in sets two and three before the Huskies narrowly edged them in the decisive fifth.
